to gutter or not to gutter...
to gutter or not to gutter...... this is the question.
I just recently purchased a home which does not have gutters installed. I live in west texas, and it does not rain to much, but I seem to be starting to get the trenches on the ground from water run off. If i get gutters, then I am sure i will end up with alot of water run off in the couple of areas that they leave the roof lines. The soil does not soak up water at all. The problem is, my back yard already holds water even when it sprinkles.
Is there any long term damage to the eves if gutters are not installed???????
Thanks!

AcftMecH,
Not having gutters is a problem when you have bad soil conditions and you see the ditch being made. Although not having gutters does not damage your eaves as long as proper metal drip edge was applied.
If you don't want to have gutters, may I suggest some minor lanscaping, spread some bark or mulch border around the home over landscaping fabric. This way you get a clean look, no splash of soils getting on the exterior siding.
Hope this helps!
