New Home - Hole in roof

I'm hoping someone can help me out here.

I'm having a new home built and they just finished framing and shingling the roof.

As I went through looking at the work, it appears that something happened when they were shingling. For what ever reason, a hole was made in the roof (it was broken) and was patched with a piece of galvanized sheet metal and then the shingles were placed over it. The hole is approx 2 1/2' X 2'.

My question is "Is this an acceptable way of repairing such damage?"

Thanks to everyone in advance!

Not at all. First check with the contractor if a vent is planned for this spot. If not, sick the building inspector on them.
