Question

Is there a plus to heavier felt? Someone told me that 30# could actually cause the shingles to melt...is that true?
Is 15# sufficient in Southern Ohio moderate winters and summers?
Doing an old farmhouse with steep pitch.
Thanx in advance

Generally speaking, with a steep pitch either will work as well as the other.

How steep are you talking about? Over 7:12

What melts shingles is a poorly ventilated roof.

I prefer 30# because it is easier to work with, and will last on an unshingled roof if weather gets bad.
