Question

We're building a patio with a roof over it. Its 12 feet out from the house, and 20 feet long.
We are going to use 4 4x4's and 2x8's to affix it to the house. My question is how many other 4x4's should we use? We're figuring the four corners obviously, but the front of the roof I'm not sure. Can we get away with just 3 4x4's on the front? Some input would be much appreciated : )

You will need the following 4x4 posts. One on each corner. One in the middle (6') on each end, and one every 5 or 6' across the front. Make sure on the front you use a double header on top. BOLT your 2x8'x across the front on top one on each side of your 4x4. You have snow loads there, and big winds also. Remember, to lag bolt your header or sill onto your house. Good Luck
