Question

Our home was built 10 years ago. The asphalt shingle roof is beginning to lose the granular coating. When it rains, we find small piles of the coating on the ground at the bottom of the gutters. Does this mean that we have "cheap" shingles? Should we replace the entire roof? We live south of Atlanta. There are no visible leaks in the roof.

Cool

That's normal, Moon. Don't worry about it.

What "Old Guy" said is exactly right. Furthermore, it has been occurring since the roof was installed, not something that has just started happening. As long as the shingle tabs are still flat and you have no leaks, there is no cause for you to worry about it.
