Question

Is there a right side up to roofing felt paper? It seems that one side is more "sticky" then the other -- although this may be due to laying in the sun?

Cool

It doesn't matter with roofing felt, although most put the side with lines up.

Putting it down with the lines up, just as it comes off of the roll is a whole lot easier.

The felt paper is saturated with asphalt. That's what makes it sticky. The lines go up to the sky to help you maintin a reference while rolling it out, stapling it down, and shingling over it.

Many roofers snap chaklines to keep the shingles running even.
