I notice that some roofs have drip edging and some don't. Is it a requirement. If so what is the most commons size used and how exactly is it to be installed ? By the way I removed the 1 by 6 open sheating and replaced it with 1/2 inch cdx. It actually saved me money and time, but now the drip edge question.

Cool

Drip edging is not required, but a good idea to protect roof sheathing and fascia boards from rot. Install it directly to sheathing under tar paper and shingles. Good Luck!

Some people put the drip edge over the felt along the rake of the roof and below the felt on the eaves.

I usually put it over the felt everywhere.

Have you visited my website? There is some good roofing How to information. Use this link to go directly to the drip edge section. http://www.morethanacarpenter.bigste...68&PRID=178792
