I have a low pitch (about six inches in twelve feet) on my garage roof, I've used rool roofing in the past but it doesn't last very long before it starts leaking again. I'm thinking of redoing it with metal panels. Two questions. Will metal hold up longer than the four or so years I get out of roll roofing? And can I install it over one layer of rolled roofing, or do I have to strip it back to the sheathing. Thanks for any advice.

Metal will definitely last longer than the 4 years you are getting from rolled roofing.

You might even consider a product called ONDURA. It is a synthetic material. You can find it at Lowe's and probably Home Depot.

Yes, metal roofing will last for many many years, probably 20 or more if put on correctly. No, you don't need to take off your old shingles. With your slope on your roof, metal roofing is what you need.
