I am planning on re-roofing over my current tab asphalt shinge roof.

2 Questions, Can I put roll roofing over a low pitched sunroom roof that is now shingled?

Second, How do I install new drip edge? Over the old roof shingles? Under the old roof, ontop of the old drip edge?

Cool

I'm not a roofing contractor, but I would remove the shingles on the sunroom before putting on the roll roofing, and I would rip off the old drip edge and install the new under the old roofing. I guess that you know that shingling over old shingles will shorten the life of the new shingles, and it sometimes voids warranties. However, it's your call. Good Luck!

Overlay roofs usually have a 10% to 15% shortened lifespan.

If your old shingles are laying flat, then an ovelay usually will look OK. If they are peeling, blistering, or are very brittle then the old shingles will telegraph through the new roof and look ugly.

When overlaying an existing shingle roof, DO NOT install a layer of felt between the systems.

You should tear off the existing roof and check the decking before the new roof is installed. Never install wood decking directly over wood decking. Wood decking needs to be able to "breathe" on one side or else severe warping can occur.

Install the drip edge material over the underlayment (roof felt)along the rakes and under the underlayment along the eaves.

Install all new flashings. Remove the old flashings and fill in the void that it causes with shingle material.

Thanks for the responses.
I am planning on re-roofing over my current roof system.

But I am still not understanding the drip edge? Do I put new drip edge on a re-roof? IF so how?

Does your roof have drip edge on it now? What kind of condition is it in? If it is not rusted, bent up, or falling down I'd leave it alone.

Never use the product named Roll roofing.
It normally comes with no warranty from factory
