Anti-leaf gutters... Do they work for pine needles?

I'm going to be installing some guttering on the back of my house in the coming months, but the problem is that there is a 2-3 story drop off the back, so I'm not exactly going to be up there cleaning the things out every month or so... I have seen those leaf proof gutters that rely on surface tension to drag the water around a lip and into the gutter, but I would imagine that this would take pine needles with it. Pine needles are the biggest problem for the gutters here, not broad leaves. Am I SOL?

Not true. I think whatever design choice of guard will be an improvement!!! They work. An installer charges 6.00 per foot. A good one is @ Home Depot for 3.00 for a 3 foot length(plastic). Hope this helps!!
