I bought a garage kit, and they supplied 15 pound felt. Should I use 2 layers? If so how should I install them? I live in Utah.

Ask two people, you'll get two different answers. Some would use the felt from the eaves to the peak. Others will only use it from the eaves to five feet up the slope. I have never regreted doing more than the minimum code requirements. If you have enough felt to do the entire roof, do it. If you still have felt left over, you can run a double layer at the eaves. Run the felt perpendicular to the truss, start at eaves, overlap each course about 4".

"Zero" seems like the perfect number to me. I would spend a few dollars and use 30 lb. felt. Find some other use for the 15 lb., or throw it away.

I'm with Lefty. I never use 15# felt. Too thin. I always use 30#.
