I bought a home in August. The structure is classified as an earthen home. The roof is metal on top of perlins no sub-roof. There is about 8 inches of insulation under this. My problem is when it gets cold water condenses on the underside of the metal roof and freezes. When the sun hits the roof it melts the frost ond it drips onto the insulation . How can I prevent the condensation from accuring. any help would be appreciated.

That's why you put sheathing down on the joists (or purlins) and cover it with 30 lb. felt before you put on a metal roof.

Sorry, you can not prevent condensation from forming. The roof was not put on correctly. No sub roof. Bad building code vioaltion.
