No Shingle Starter on House
#1

My house is ten years old and I just noticed on one side of the house that the builder did not put the "starter" shingle on one side. Thus, when it rains, water is dripping from the soffets. Can anyone suggest what I should do and now to do it?

Hello
Get some sheet metal strips cut and slide them up under the first corse of shingles where you can see that it does not have any thing there, if the paper is good it should not leak, you can install tin shingles all along make sure to cut them off a little shorter than the shingle so you will not see them sticking out, make sure the shingles go all the way up under the next corse of shingle.... good luck

You can buy metal starter strips. They are about 6" long and about 5 or 6" wide. Just slide them under your shingles, and overlap them about 1/4" inch on each other.
