Angry Wood Shingles & Yello Stuff

My home has wood shingles. Along the edges of the house and at the top joints where the slopes meet at the top, there is yellow substance on the shingles. It looks too dense to be pollen, mabye a mold? Is this a sign of rotting wood shingles?

Sounds like mold to me, you should get a good local pro to take a look & make recommendations first hand. At the very least I'd say a good power washing & apply some sort of fungicide to stop the mold growth. Also a good idea to trim back any over hanging tree limbs above your roof. How old is the roof?

I think you may be right about the mold. My neighbor has the same thing. The roof is about 10 years old.

I'd bet money on mold being your culprit, it needs to be removed asap. Once it's cleaned & a fingicide applied to kill the root system, you can install zinc strips to help keep the problem from reoccurring. Take a look at this link

Good luck
