Timing of new roof

I am siding my house, the color of the roof does not go with our siding - planning on re-roofing. Was going to do it next summer (financial reasons) but was told that would be better to roof then side or will run into problems with facia board ...

Any advise?

You were told right, but for a different reason. It is better to roof first. If you do new siding first, when your roof gets stripped, the falling shingles and felt usually will make black marks on your new siding and they usually will not come off. Also falling debris will sometimes damage the siding. Best to damage old siding rather then new siding. Usually you do not do the fascia when siding. You usually do this when roofing, since you uaually remove the gutters when roofing, thus exposing the fascia, and you work the fascia at this time. However, some folks do fascia when siding. Whichever way, you have to take off the gutters to do the fascia.
Gutters come under the heading of roofing.
