Roof problem
#1

We have put an addition on our home and are having a problem with the roof leaking in about 3 or 4 places where the original roof ends and the new one begins. We continued the roof line and are trying to figure out what we missed when we finished it ... we installed flashing and felt and roofing material and sealed it with roofing cement. Any opinions would be GREATLY appreciated!!

You have answered you own question in the story your told us. The key word was continued the roof line. Most all continued roof lines leak. What you will have to do, and this will probably not set well with you, is that you will probably have to reshingle the old roof and addition as one roof. This should have been done when built. In other words the old roof is letting water run under the new roof instead of going over it. You may get alot of answers but these will only be temporary fixes. Time to cowboy up and and call the roofer.

Thank you for your opinion ... in getting in touch with a roofer in our area, we found out what we erred in doing ... the drip edge was not removed from the existing roof, once we removed that and laid another flashing strip and shingles, we were in fine shape!! Thank you again!!
