roof pitch

I'm installing some gingerbread trim. I know how to calculate roof pitch but the numbers mean nothing to me....is there a way to figure out the angles in degrees that I can use to cut the trim accurately? Or is up the ladder with the wood the easiest way?

thanks

John

Pitch is the rise in inches for a 12" run. Thus, 12 pitch is a 12" rise for a 12" run which creates a 45 degree angle. 2 pitch = 7.5 degrees, 4 pitch = 15 degrees, 6 pitch = 22.5 degrees etc...

Does that mean that you take the pitch of your roof, multiply it by 45 and then divide by 12?

The only way you are going to get your trim accurate is cut to fit.
Which means getting up there, and measuring each angle. Using the pitch angle method you will only be close, but you will not be accurate. I always measure each angle.
