steel roof

Our hous a very good steel rood on the main section, it is a 130y old farm house. The back porch and summer kitchen are shingled and need to be replaced, We'ed like to consider matching the steel rood if we could although it may be difficult to find the sheeting. It is pre painted with a rib every 6 inches. The roof in this area is not as steep but is still a very simple roof. Is steel a reasonable consideration or should we just replace with shingles

There are several manufacturers supplying steel roofing panels to the residential market in Ontario. There is quite a variety of profiles available so you should be able to find something similar to what you have. Best bet is to find a local roofer who specializes in steel roof installation. Installed cost for steel panels varies from 1.5X to 3X that of asphalt shingles, depending on the type, quality of finish, and difficulty of installation. I have also seen steel panels sold at places like Home Hardware, but of course you are then responsible for installing these yourself. As with so many things, you get what you pay for.

Lightbulb roof

Its like up to what you want to do. Id say where you are up there the steel would be best so it will let the snow slid off better than a shingle roof. Also not get any ice dams there ED
