roof trusses

i am planning to put a new roof on our mobile home. It is a 12x65, we are planning to put trusses down and then put the new kind of metal roofing over that, you know the kind that comes in colors in 3 foot wide selections. My husband has put these roofs on in the past but it was always a redo, not with the trusses. How far apart do you space these? Any suggestions would help.

most roof truss manufactures send a blueprint with trusses explaining how far apart that they designed the trusses to be. in most cases it isent 2ft on center its 19 inches. if you look on your ruler most of them have it marked it will have litttle diamonds every 19 in to go by

Lost here ilketile truss are set 24" & 16" on center what has 19" got to do with anything here . You have to work with 24" or 16" for plywwod or lumber to work so you can nail it like 4'- 8' -10'. ED

Ok guys. The trusses go 24" on center. No blueprints come with trusses, the specs and spacing are on a stamp right on the truss.
Use 5/8" plywood or osb board for your sub roof. Good Luck

ed sorry,19.2 those little black diamonds on the tape, add them up works out to 47.6.sheet goods work fine and you save a truss
not alot of people do it for roof trusses but quite a few use it for flooring systems.oh yeah and we always get a spec package with our truss delivery showing layout, where the engineer got his numbers from etc

I would make sure you have the proper permits and inspections. If you are adding weight to the mobile home it could be a problem. I have seen roofs put over mobile homes that have their own support structure, the old mobile home was not built to support that weight. Maybe you have investigated all this?

mrmojo I think if you look that 19.2 diamonds are for the TYG floor joist not trusses Also if you think you save by going to the 19.2 for the joist it dont work out. You have to use 1" ply then .
At 16" center you can use 3/4" ply on them and a better floor
