Question When to re-roof

I don't want to wait for my 23 year old roof to spring a leak before I replace the shingles. At the same time, I don't want to waste time and money by replacing it too soon. I'm hoping to get some opinions as to how long I should wait.

Specifics to existing roof follow.
240# asphalt shingles
15# felt over 1/2" plyscore base
9:12 pitch to main portion of roof
3.5:12 pitch to south facing dormer
Roof faces north/south
Windy location but no lost shingles
Very slight curling of some shingle tabs

Looking forward to your thoughts.

If your existing roof is 23 years old, it is probably time to change.
That puts your roof at about 1980 when installed. In those days most shingles were a 15 year and 20 year shingle. There were some 25 year. Now everything is at least 25 year. You don't want to wait until your roof leaks to replace it. Good Luck

I believe that as long as it is not leaking, the granules are staying on & the shingles are not curling you should wait.
