extending downspouts...
I have some water problems in my basement. I had an inside system with a sump pump installed, but I still want to divert my downspouts away from the house. Currently 3 out of 4 of my downspouts just drain right against the house, the 2 in the back and the one on the front left of the house. I'm planning digging a trench and taking the downspouts all the way to the street. I live in Pittsburgh, Pa and we have some pretty cold winters. My questions are:
how deep does the trench need to be?
What type of pipe should I use in the trench?
Should I tie all 3 downspouts together or should I run pipe from each side of the house?
On the right side of the house (the side with only one of the downspouts) is the drain pipe for the newly installed sump pump. Is it possible to tie this in with the downspout pipes or is this not a good idea?
Thanks
Chris

CCM21 will get you moved over there.
Dont know what you have there for slopeare can do so cant say.
just have a good pitch to it If you can
If you dont drive over it I get the 4" PVC and use it
Id say no let each one have its own outlet if you can.
Dont think Id put it in there .You dont say what all the sump get its water from or where it pumps it to

The sump pump collects water from the inside system that was installed in my basement. The basement floor was broken up and dug down on all 4 walls of the basement, 4" pipe was installed in the trench and new cement was poured. The pipe drains into the sump pump and gets pumped thru 2" pvc pipe outside the house. Currently the sump pump drain pipe empties into the yard about 5 feet away from the house.
All of the digging I am planning on doing is in the yard, no cars will be driven over the area...
The pitch isn't the problem, I was more concerned about getting it deep enough to be below the frost line, but I don't know if getting it that deep is an issue... Do I need to worry about the frost line or can I just dig down about 10"?

Just 10" deep sound good to me. But with a good pitch on it to get the water out. If it was to freeze the gutters would have ice in them by then so it dont matter. You could have that sump pump go into one of them to get away from the home .Boy 5' from the home it pumps water out. Id think that the same water could just come right back in to the sump from there .

The slop should be good my front yard goes down hill to the street. I feel the same way about the sump pump water coming right back into the house...
