We live in Iowa - we purchased a house that was built in 2000, and recently we have had some problems with shingles blowing up in the wind. Upon inspection, i realized that the shingle had come up because the the nail had gone all the way through the shingle. The contractor who did the roof using an air nailer, and I have noticed that on a lot of the shingles, the nail is almost all the way through the shingle. It appears he had his pressure set way too high when he was nailing the shingles on. Is there any way that I can prove that these problems are related to contractor error? What would be the best way to go about doing this, should I have someone inspect the roof? And if I can determine for sure that errors were made by the contractor, would he be legally responsible for repairing any future shingle problems or for replacing the roof? :confused: Help, we have a sunroom attached to our colonial - it was once a screened in porch that sometime down the road, a previous owner enclosed. It has a slate roof and vinyl windows on the 3 walls. After a bad rain, water comes in from just above the windows on one wall. It cascades down the wall, drips on the wooden sill and onto the wood floor! The windows, however, are completely dry. Also, the flashing is completely dry. Moreover, this weekend we cauked around the window frames because we noticed gaps there. Yet the water still comes in (although it doesn't come in until after it has been raining awhile, suggesting that it is travelling or pooling somewhere before coming in). How do we locate the source of the leak? Whom do we call for help/repairs? Thanks a million, JDJC :(
