ridge vents and static attic vents

ridge vents and static attic vents
I'm getting new shingles and some plywood replaced soon on my 13 year old house thanks to hurricane Isabelle. There are static roof vents now but I'm having a ridge vent installed. Do I need to keep the static roof vents assuming the ridge vent moves air at the same capacity?
Also, I was considering a powered attic fan (in addition to the ridge vent) but since I'm not experienceing any problems decided it was overkill.
Thanks in advance
