New Roof Construction

Question regarding sequence of events for new house construction.

Does the plumber and HVAC contractor generally run their VTR's (vent thru roof) prior to the roof putting down the felt paper and shingles?

Or does the plumber and roofer essentially start at the same time and by the time the roofer gets to the VTR loactions, the plumber and HVAC contractor already have them in.

Or do the VTR's definitely come after the roofer has started his work.

Any of the three methods you mentioned may be used. It kind of depends on
the Contractor. The ideal way would be to have the vents in first, however, plumbers are historically slow, so in many cases they are last. That is how it is.

Wink

Id check code there and see what you have to do. Most of the time when the roof plywood is on then felt paper goes on it right away. Any roof vent buttons or roof jacks get nailed down only on the top edge. So the roofer can lift them up and work the shingles under them.
But not down here ,code calls for 30 lb felt all jacks nailed down all around and doped in. Then the poor roof guy has to lay shingles around and over them. Later you wonder why the roof leaks.
