Question Installing shingles on wet roof ok?

I've been having a brand new house (new construction) roof done (Owens Corning shingles over their brand of tar paper) and about half of the way thru thunderstorms hit while they were installing shingles.

Rain is over now but the roofer says they need to finish it up tomorrow even though the paper is all wet still where they need to shingle. I always heard you shouldn't install shingles unless the roof paper was bone dry.

But I'm told by them that the sun will heat up and evaporate the moisture under those shingles that have wet paper underneath and it will be no problem. We're in south Florida and there's nothing in the code on wet/dry.

Is my understanding old or what?

With Roofdog. Dont know where you are down here. But code here is 30 lb felt, ring nailed 12 on center. So yes let them get the shingles on.
