How to build roof truss

I'm trying to build a set of standard trusses to build a roof on a tool shed outside dimesions 8'7" by 11' 8'. Are the truss angles always 45 degrees? What's the easiest way to build the 4 or 5 trussess I will need to complete the roof? Dave

With the small dimension shed you have I wouldn't use a truss. A 2 by 4 truss will clear span over 20'. I would use a shed roof in the 8'7" span with a single 2 by 4 rafter at what ever pitch is necessary in your area. Put an overhang at each side. A low pitch (3 in 12) would collapse under a heavy snow load. A high pitch won't as snow will slide off. There are truss designs available from universitys for farm construction. Go to the library and look at construction books to see how to frame a roof. The local truss builder may give you a print out of the neccessary truss. Since its a tool shed and not your house strength isn't as important......jeff

Thumbs up

Like Jeff said just get some books on them is all. if you have the floor down or some where to work them they are small. Snap a chalk line on the floor for the lay out and just build them there. that what we do. A 3 on12 or a 4 on 12 should work ok.
