Question Fascia Boards

I am in the process of replacing the whole roof. I am looking for a permanent fascia material. The vinyl and aluminum products I have found require a seperate board to support them. Is there anything out there that can stand alone and would not require painting / maintenance? Would "Hardyboard" work? I have never used it and don't know if it would hold the screws for the gutter brackets.

Any help would be appreciated!

I just put Hardie planks up for fascia and it worked good. You will have to paint it as it comes primed. I don't think it would support gutters on its own. My house has 2x4s at the ends of the roof joists it would be of little concern for me. YMMV.
