Solatubes

We are thinking of putting one to three solatubes in the roof while the roof is being replaced. We thought we would buy them from Home Depot and have the roofers do the exterior part and then we would do the rest. Do any of you have experience with them? One roofer said they would do the whole job, but they wouldn't use the ones from Home Depot because they leak, he said. The use a higher quality one, but the whole job for one tube would cost almost $900! So we won't be doing that! I'm wondering if it is true that the ones from Home Depot leak or if he just said that to get the higher price. This particular roofer was higher on everything. The others would charge us $25 per tube to do the exterior installation. Since our bathrooms have no windows (split level) I thought this would be a great way to introduce natural light during the day.

Wink

Id say maybe get another roofer. if a roof jack is put in right dont see how it can leak. No windows in the bath, Code here calls for vent fans in them and vent to the out side not in the attic.
