Leaky valley on roof

I recently had a leak in my roof along a seam in a valley. A roofer sent to my house by my insurance company said he caulked it temporarily. Should I have the valley flashing replaced or is the caulking enough? Would sealing it with some sort of substance like tar be just as good?

Also, I have to replace some of the insulation in the roof where the leak occured. It's blown insulation, about a square meter. Can I simple add regular pink insulation and are they compatible? What should I do?

Thanks

B

Just what do you have here? If like a metal valley you can use roof cement on it.Then work a piece of cloth in to it and add some more roof cement on top of it.

For sure YES
