Water problem at edge of roof! Help!
Hey folks...
We are having a small problem and I'm hoping someone here might be able to shed some light on its source. The symptom is peeling paint on our soffits right beginning along the edge where the soffit meets our gutters (and it spreads out from that point toward our house). The other day when it was raining I was able to open a wind and feel for water leaking and there was a very small trickle of water entering the damaged area from between the gutter and the edge of the soffit... but this is only true along certain area along the gutter. We recently had a new roof put on and the added some kind of weather strip that extends off of the roof and hangs into our gutter.
Any thoughts on how water could be leaking back there?
Thanks,
tsand72

Very hard to say, a lot of unknows here. Have any of the starter shingles curled UP? Even a little? Is the drip edge curved, bent or has gaps in it?That's a sure sign that water will get into soffit. How about above this spot? Any gaps in roofing? Nail holes or popped up shingles? Some water will always trickle behind the gutter and get on the fascia board but it should not go past that point in the direction of the house.
