Last winter - roof ice

Last winter we had an ice jam on our roof and gutter right by our front door. Multiple peeks and valleys happen in a tight area. We want to be prepared for it this year and do steps to possibly prevent it. Is there a heating unit available that can be inserted in the gutter or on the roof edge? Something we can plug in when needed.

All of the roofing materials distributors stock heat cables for roofs. Read the instructions. Be careful to follow the instructions for power routing/supply. Do you have an available circuit that can take 1250 watts?

Also check to make sure that area of the roof is insulated properly. Since its happening only at one spot, your attic insulation might be the cause of the problem.

Now that I know there is such an item out there, I did a search on the internet and found various products. Appreciate the help.
