Reshingling a roof
I live in Florida and lost alot of shingles from wind damage. Our house was built in 1992 and the roof is in good shape should I reshingle over the existing roof or tear off the old shingles? If I reshingle over existing shingles should we put tar paper down and what do I do about the spots where the shingles are missing?

Strip and Place a new roof.
If you have missing shingles you can't add a second layer.
Second layers can only be added where there first layer is generally intact.
Tar paper is not placed between shingle layer when adding an additional layer.
Shingles are laid directly over the old shingles.
But in your case, it seems to me, that your BEST option is to rip off the old roof and install a new one.
