Walking on asphalt shingles - damage?

Hi,

Like the subject says, is it generally ok to walk on the roof?

Just wondering...

Thanks

Walking on a roof should not cause a problem as long as you aren't dragging your feet and scraping off the covering. It's like any other surface. Just avoid any abusive treatment. good luck.

If the shingles are very old and begining to rumple it can be impossible to walk without taking another year off. I avoid stepping on shingle edges old or new - step on the middles. Hot weather makes them easily scuffed or bent just by the fact your weight is on a slope - sometimes better wait for evening.

Old carpet works for low pitch roofs; it's suicide on steep roofs.
