Need advice on downspout with no place to go

I have one downspout that is bordered by the house, gravel driveway, and sidewalk. In other words, there's not much place for the water to go. I can't tunnel under the sidewalk, so I thought about running PVC/drain tile from the downspout under the driveway and dumping it into a dry well of gravel. Does this sound like a reasonable solution? The area does not get a tremendous amount of water except in heavy rains. I think I need to get it away from the house, although the builder was confident that I would have no long term problems.

I thought that my brother in-law was nuts when he told me he terminated his downspouts into a shallow buried gravel bed.....Three years later....Seems to work great, no erosion, guess I have to give him credit for that one!
