Exclamation Covering/burying a horizontal, ground level gutter drain pipe

Hi all,

I have a short section (4 ft) of horizontal drain pipe that sits a few inches above grade that I want to conceal or bury a bit. The pipe sits flush against the outside wall of my home just above ground level.. Two downspouts from the roof go directly into this pipe, at either end, and then from there to the main water drain somewhere underground, I imagine. Anyway, I want to bury it as Im landscaping there. I understand I have to keep the openings of the drainpipe clear, but beyond that, is there any reason I can't cover it with soil or gravel or something? Would the weight of gravel be a problem??

Thanks

DJ

If the material the drain is made of is not flimsy, I would see no problem with burying it. If flimsy, perhaps you could reinforce it with something before covering (build up dirt along sides and place a board leaning against the house at a 45 degree angle). Good luck.

You should have no problems then. That pipe is quite strong and should not crush with dirt or stone. Good luck.
