Smile I need advice on installing/sealing bathroom exhaust vent thru rubber roof membrane

Hi all, my first post, hoping someone with rubber roof experience can lend some advice. I'm renovating a 2nd floor bathroom in our late 40's cape that is located in a dormer on the backside of the house. I'm getting to the exhaust vent/light kit now, which did not exist previously, so this vent is the first to be installed in this bathroom (why one was never installed up till now is beyond me)

So now I've got the roof vent kit (Broan RVK1A), and I have to cut a 4-5" hole through the rubber roof membrane on the dormer, but I'm concerned about how to attach/seal the roof vent once I've installed it. I've not worked with rubber roofs before. The overall vent flange is about 9x11", I realize I have to nail through it to secure it to the roof, but how do I seal the edges of the flange, and the nailheads? (Are deck screws better?) The pitch is relatively shallow, probably 20 degrees, no more. How do I go about sealing the edges/nail heads? Mobile home rubber roofing cement? sheets of rubber or????? Help.

Just a homeowner, way in over his head as usual...

Vent in Rubber Roof

You need to install your vent by cutting the hole and nailing it down. Now here is a strange. Do not try to seal it with any sealer. If you do you may apply something that will eat the rubber. You need rubber strips 6 to 8 inches wide and glue them down over the flanges with rubber roof glue. When working with a rubber roof, you have to use rubber roof parts and glue.
the only place I know to get these strips is to go to www.mobilehomerepair.com I think the man's name is Mark. He has the strips. I got some from him last year. Good Luck
