Roof / shingle mold

What's the best way to remove mold from shingles? Should a power washer be used? Do the zinc strips really work for preventing future stains? Do they look bad - like I'm envisioning they may?
Thanks.

Don't use a pressure washer...This will do more damage than good.

Check out the "Maryland" post for information on removing mold.
Chlorine bleach is ok in VERY diluted quantities. Or used the OXY-Clean or similar you always see advertised.
The zink strip will be barely noticeable.
You tuck the metal under the ridge cap. Remove the ridge cap and lay the strips with 2-3 inches of the zink to be left exposed once the ridge is re-applied. The nails that hold the ridge cap on also secure the strip.

Good Luck!

There are shingle wash concentrates available out there. They work pretty good on mold but do not prevent it from coming back. Use the zinc strips and that should help cure the problem.
