leak in the garage

After tropical storm Tammy, I noticed quite a bit of leak in the garage wall.
The downsprout exit is pitched at the top of first level and water flows over the shingles into the gutter. (pardon me, this is the best way I could describe). The water runs on a down slope to the gutter. The leak is exactly at the point where the water drips into the gutter. Is there anything I can install under the shingles or over to avoid dripping in the wall? I don't want to extend the downsprout all the way to the gutter, which is ~10 ft. Can this be fixed by me or should I look for a roof repair handyman? thanks.
