Arrow termite problem with rafter over hang

Hello ! I just bought an old house and I find a good number of the roof rafter over hang has been eaten away by termites. How should I go about repairing this problem. As a layman, the only thing I can imagine is to go up in the attic an replace the intire damaged rafter. Does anyone have any idea's. Thank you.

The first thing you need to do is make certain you have no more termites any where in your home! It won't do any good to fix termite damage if they are still feasting on the structure of your house. Get a professional exterminator to let you know what's going on, and if necessary, have your house treated.

As for the termite damage. Fully inspect the affected eaves/rafters to see how extensive they are damaged. My guess is that they will have to be replaced.
