Framing a roof, joining trim pieces together

I have my roof trusses built and plan to use 2x6's for the trim around the perimeter of the roof. What is the best way to connect 2 peices together so they look seamless?

I assume we're talking about facia boards. Generally you would cover the 2x rough facia with a 1x finish board. For long runs you cut a scarf joint. Basically 2 overlapping 45 degree cuts. The one with the long point on the back goes on first, then the one with the long point on the face on top of the first. This will give a seam thats pretty hard to detect even with the expansion and contraction of the wood.
