Question Felt vs Tarpaper

Hi

I am new at this .

What is the difference between using Felt and tarpaper as an underlayment for new shingles?

LucioRoberto, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
Roofing felt and tarpaper are the same thing. I believe they come in at least two weights, 15# and 30#. Good luck.

Not exactly. Tar Paper is really coal tar felts, used w/ builtup coal tar roofs. Roofing felt is asphalt based, for asphalt roofing.
