roll roofing tips

I have a small roof section that needs repair. It is a low pitch roof so I want to use roll roofing. Presently there is shingles on it. I never did roofing before so let me know if you have any tips to do it. I assume the steps are as follows.
1. remove old shingles and tar paper
2. install new tar paper on roof
3 lay down the roll roofing

not sure how the roll roofing is fastened, do you still use nails, cement etc. to lay down.

Also, the roof section starts at a vertical wall on the back of a garage ( must have been an add on later). Is there a flashing avaiable where these two meet that needs to be installed. Thanks for the help

Why not just use a rubber membrane and be done with it? We've made alot of money over the years thanks to roll roofing

The membrane is pretty easy to install and so far we've been having excellent results with it since there are no joints on these common roofs that roll roofing was used on.
