Water Damage Concern
My wife and I just bought our first house a month or so ago new and yesterday it took its first big test. A huge storm came through and my wife called me at work to tell me that water was in the garage. After I got home I could see where water extended about 4 feet from the wall but was realativly dry because a carpet had soaked it up. Also the wall looked dry as well.
Someone here suggested the water came in through the concrete blocks at the base of the floor but I was thinking it came in between the base of the wall under the drywall and trim and above the 6 inches of concrete blocks that extends above the slab. I am a computer guy so this stuff is new to me and since I was at work I didn't really see where the water came in so I don't know how it came in.
I did notice that the outside wall looked like water was pooling at the base of the siding where the trim is positioned because the trim is not flush against the siding.
I called my builder but he didn't think it was a big deal because the storm was so heavy. What should I do?
Thanks in advance.

hi
if this is a brand new home get the builder to come over and fix the slope along the garage wall so that the water will me push away from the wall.
also do you have rain gutter?
make sure the down spout has a defector to carry the water far from the building
also you have a 1 year warranty on the house if the carpet got soak good you might have a mold problem after. get him to replace it
