Roof felt

We have a cedar shingle roof that needs to be replaced. The felt is in good condition. Can we leave the old felt on, put new felt over it and then proced with the textured asphalt shingles we want to put on?

thnx~

Tear off the old felt. That way you can inspect your sub roofing, and any other things that might be going on under your felt. Felt is very cheap. The old felt will not lay flat. I am not sure you could even take off cedar shingles without destroying the felt. The cedar shingles will be taken off with a fork and your old felt will be full of holes. Put on new felt. Good Luck
