those little granular things

I have the type of roof that is long strips of material with tar seams. The top is covered with a granular finish and it is 3 years old. Every spring after the rainy season I notice a pile of the little granular finish in the rain gutters. Is this normal? Is it a problem. The roof looks like it did when they irst installed it.
Thanks

Roll roofing.

It's normal. Shingles do the same thing as they get older; some last longer than others. My shingle roof is about 10 years old and when I clean out the gutters I always have some in them.
