roof leak

We have our dining room under the masterbath. The ceiling of the dining room under the general area of toilet bulges due to moisture accumulation occasionally. We always assumed that it was from the toilet area. We upgraded the toilet and repaired the roof with dry wall & new paint. Now I am finding that whenver there are heavy rains, that part of the ceiling bulges with moisture. The confusing part is that ceiling is not under external roof. I dont understand how this could be happening. If it was bathroom leak from upstairs, it would not have been inconsistent. Thanks for help.

Water does not always go down.

It can follow floors, beams and pipes a long distance horizontally and show up quite a ways from the source.
