30 yr. shingles

I had a guy come over to look at the roof. The shingles on now are
22 yrs. old (original equipment). He gave me a price for tare off and reshingle, and a price to put the new ones over the old ones,
he said even though there 30 yr. shingles if i put them over old
ones, they would only last about 1/2 as long (15 yrs.). Does that sound rite, our is he just trying to get me to take the higher price
tare off ?

I'm not a roofer, but I would have the old shingles stripped. You'll end up with a better looking job and with 30 year shingles, probably never have to worry about it again.
I don't know what kind of roof you have, but if you have a couple of buddies you can strip a roof in an afternoon.
