Safely Walking on Metal Roofs
I need some advice/recommendation on how to safely walk on a metal roof without slipping. In order to paint some areas of my two level house it is necessary to walk on a portion of the metal roof. It is not very steep but rubber sole shoes are just not good enough. I noticed the metal roofers used a thin role up pad of some type that he would lay on the metal. Any suggestions or advice would sure be appreciated.

I don't know about the roll up pad.
Shoes/boots with a good gripping sole are a must. Sometimes it is feasable to lay [and support] a ladder on the roof, also makes for a nice 'pocket' to set your paint pot. There have been times when I found it necessary to tie a rope off to help secure myself - may take a long rope if you need to tie off on the otherside of the house.
Not all metal roofs are constructed the same. Most have plenty of slats to support the metal but every now and again you run across one with inadequate strapping and if you try to support your weight between straps you may bend the metal.
Main thing is to be safe!!
