gutters for mobile home

Hi!

I am rehabbing my first mobile home, and I am finding a lot of
floor damage near outside walls.

I wonder if gutters would help a re-occurence, or just make the MH too expensive for resale? the MH is 14 X60.

advice?
thanks!

The MH's with metal roofs have a makeshift "gutter" from the factory. Basically it is just a piece of bent metal that directs the run off to either end.

Because there is no facia board or overhang I'm not sure if it is feasable to install a gutter.

Ideally you would install a roof over which both makes installing a gutter simpler and sort of eliminating the need since water isn't as apt to run down the siding.

Since you don't plan to keep the MH and to keep the investment down, I would check the siding, tighten if/where needed and caulk any gaps. You can also inspect/repair the factory gutter. It took years for rain to cause the floor damage so in the short term every thing should be fine once the damage is repaired.

Sorry I don't have a better answer.

Thanks!

Hey Mark,

your suggestions sound real reasonable and doable,
and the right level of diligence for what I am trying to do, which is sell a reasonably good MH at a decent price.
