Question chimney flashing

I have a leak around my chimney....or so the gentleman told me when he gave me his estimate. Is installing flashing around the chimney at the roof line a difficult project? Should I have a pro do it vs. do it yourself? Any advice, tips or watch-outs?

Thanks!

A leak doesn't necessarily mean the lead flashing around the chimney needs to be replaced. The flashing can be blown open if not sealed properly or the sealant has simply just gave out.

If the leak is in fact caused by the flashing you could seal it with roof cement. If you chose to replace the lead flashing it will need to be ground out of the chimney and re pointed back in. It is not a hard thing to do if you are a do it your selfer.

Good luck,
Steven
