Vinyl siding over existing board and batten
We've had new vinyl siding put over 15-20 year old wooden board and batten...our aluminum roof company now tells us that their warranty won't cover any leaks resulting from the lack of sheathing under our new siding. Apparently this is 'code', yet the siding company, the workers themselves and the store who sold the product all deny this is required over existing siding (only new construction).
Can anyone provide advice?!?

Why does a roof company care about what's behind your siding? Besides, the old board and batten siding likely qualifies as sheathing. Are they admitting that their roof is going to drain water behind your vinyl siding? A few simple flashings would take care of that problem.
You might try getting an estimate from another roofing company.
